The Birth of John the Baptist (1952)

The angel Gabriel announces to Zechariah that he and Elizabeth are to have a son, who is to be named John. After the child's birth, friends and neighbors gather for the naming. Zechariah, having been stricken dumb for not believing the angel's announcement, writes on a tablet that his name shall be John. Zechariah is immediately healed and his voice immediately returns. He offers praises to God for the Messianic hopes that are soon to be fulfilled and the prophesies that this child is to be a "prophet of the Most High." John is next shown preaching in the wilderness and proclaiming the coming of the Messiah. For it is written in Isaiah 40:3 - "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God." This was the first in Family Films 26 episode The Living Bible series.
